Welcome To The Universe of ....
STARR CULLARS
OH LORD! What! What?! It's Starr Cullars.A lady whose fine bass playing is
only rivaled by her beauty.A thumpin' bumpin' protege' of P-Funk,she is the
real life 'Red Hot Moma',who is known to play bass on that song live with
George Clinton.Nutured in FUNK by her guitar player, Lige Curry, her music is
a drum, bass and guitar assault that has hard rock, and funk with some
meaningful lyrics.Tried and tested in the fire of live gigs,Starr Cullars and
her band the 'Enterprise',with drummer Shaun Hill, have hammered out their
tunes to the delight of fans everywhere, including those fans at the '420
MELTDOWN TRIPFEST',where she was declared ,"the SEX', in sex, drugz, and rock
'n' roll".
When you hear a 'Red Alert' it's time to "evacuate the ship"!Now,there is
enough room to see that she really means business.Starr steadily prepares the
passengers aboard the Enterprise to groove into some steady funk.Slap bass
fans,'Never Was Lover' begins with a serious Graham size dosage of bass
poppage! With a delivery ala George Clinton's on 'Alice In My Fantasies',her
vocals throughout have that wild and yet cool vibe.On the cut 'Harmony' you
can her that she,and her band are tight,as the mellow melody melts all into
the full groove. The vocals on 'Soul Mate' stand out,as Lige's guitar supplies
a tour de force, while Shaun Hill locks it in the pocket.
"MADE A WISH TO A SHINING STAR TO FIND SOMEONE FOR MY LIFE"
"ONE WHO IS FREE FROM STRIFE"
"I'M ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU SOUL MATE ONE MAKES TWO"
By the time I hear Starr say that,...it would be 'Tonight',and she'd be
letting a brother know how it's going to be.Well, she definately can enhance
the "Alice in your fantasies"
as she runs down all the things that would occur when she takes time out for
that one on one."We gon' dance all alone.I'll make you wanna scream and
holler,I'll make you moan and groan."The pace of this cut is funk with what
reminds me of "new wave"in it's abruptness and syncopation.
Cosmic!'Make It Happen' is similar in that it is a march of all three funk
soilders marching in step.Starr slaps the phat licks as if someone tried to
steal sugar from her lips.BLAM!
'Emerging From The Galaxy'aboard the Enterprise, Starr rides it out with a
pure funk bomb.Complete with mutated alien overtures acknowledging a voyage
"that boldly goes where no man has gone before."Starr will get you on the
dancefloor and melt you down!
