Tuff City's newly-formed Soul-Tay-Shus label, devoted to exposing the rarest of '60s funky soul, proudly presents the CD release of R&B legend Andre Williams' Rib Tips & Pig Snoots! A former 1950's hit-maker turned frustrated Motown executive, Andre created some of the grittiest, most innuendo-filled dance-floor R&B of the '60s such as "Shake A Tail Feather" & "Twine Time." Although the Gordy empire dominated soul music during that time, Andre's tunes were hipper & more street-oriented, the complete opposite to Motown's dry-cleaned R&B. His restless spirit and financial desires resulted in travels to many cities - Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis & back to Detroit - where he released his funky jams on various labels. Many of which were unavailable until now.

Rib Tips & Pig Snoots collects Andre's funkiest '60s soul tracks from various labels as well as Andre's personal collection...floor-shakers like "Jivin' Around"," "Do It", "Loose Juice", and "Chicken Thighs". Upon the release of this album on vinyl earlier this year, the Boston Phoenix called Rib Tips & Pig Snoots "hard, fatback funk with massive breakbeat potential and the same sly, wiry tenaciousness that marked Andre's early work". This CD version contains three additional tracks, including a bluesy ballad, "I Wake Up Crying", and the funkiest Christmas tune you will ever hear, "Christmas Wish". So get ready for a '60s soul party! We'll bring the barbeque.
