Huckle buck, buckle up and give it up with the funk bomb to close out the 0-10. But hark and mark ye forward, ya’ better peck lightly, that dank odor of what can only be gritty urban Detroit street fonk has once again been detected to permeate the dense air in your wax-encrusted earhole.

Sound your funk alarm and wave your jam fan, a notoriously creative nuisance is at it again. Michigan native and P-Funk All-Star alumnus drummer/multi-instrumentalist/visionary supreme Gabe Gonzalez churns out amother thick, slippery goop of dense layered groove on this funk fortified full length effort, the 3rd official release up from the mobile funk labs of the original Undi$co Kidd.

Founder of the funkiest of the mighty P-funk alumni bands that toured the land during the glorious funk renaissance of the mid to late 1990s, Gabe G. made an indelible mark on the consciousness of a nation of funkateers dying to hear the gut-bucket, organic rhythm often missing from George Clinton’s solo deals with the major labels during that time.

As one of the most innovative and talented producers in this fertile musical period, be it his work with various artists like Amp Fiddler, 420 Funk Mob, Bernie Worrell, Bad Brains and a plethora of neo-funk talent, Undi$co Kidd led some star-spangled foot-soldiers thru perpetual eargasms that all but screamed old skool Funkadelia.

I went underground in search of this lost trump of funk and found it in the polyrhythmic splendor of Enemy Squad. The band scorched your sensibilities with the debut “United State of Mind”. If they kicked the door in, Undi$co Kidd then morphed the concept into the Ultra Unit, hitting with a slimy slithery rubber funk called “Angel Dust Theory.”

In it’s aftermath, devoted funk junkies were only left fiending for more of Gabe‘s highly-conceptual trademark bump. Well my mellow maggots this one is just bubbling and oozing with the darkest, dankest heavy & stanky P-funky grooves of the second decade.

A neo-funky new age millenia is upon us and it’s a “A Negative Nuisance”. And Peeee-U, is this some scratch-the-crack-of-a-big-ole-Tennessee-Butt stank or what ?!?!

Undi$co Kidd once again hones the best flavors of musical mayhem up from the nether regions of the black hole. The Good Dr.’s extraterrestrial clones usher in a next generation of endowment with truth & groove.

In the mystifying realm of The Undi$co Kidd, you’ll find diverse artistry from throbasonic players like bass popping Lige Curry and the legendary Mike “Kidd Funkadelic” Hampton(how the funk does he get a guitar to make these kinds of tones).

Enemy Squad alumni Guitar God Duminie DePorres shows his chops on a track or two, as does Trey Lewd, Jay Double U, house music sensation Amuka(aka Bride of Funk Sheila Horne), and a funkdafried cast of others. Somma’ airbody on here bobba.

Tracks like “Theme From the Black Troll”, “One Nation Dance Deep Under a Dog”, “Kredit Kard” & a mesmerizing reboot on Funkadelic‘s “Maggot Brain” featuring axeman Spacey T Singleton all take classic P-Funkizms thru a mind-bending time warp that drives the inductee light years on the other side of the event horizon itself.

There’s also an incredible cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” with some good doses of psychafunkadelica, this is another shade of funk aghast in an oceanic transmission of soul.

The rest of the jams are a phat, chunky, unending assault of hi-octane interplanetary funksmanship containing assorted synthesizer/organ squiggles, pounding bass rhythms and over-flowing vibe & boundless musical creativity. A sonic overload of millennial underground rhythm over deep ambience of percussive textures, this record finds Undi$co once again at his funky apex.

And if you like your funk uncut, be sure to visit Detroit’s Funk Loft, therein you’ll find The Undi$co Kidd on any given night and his multitudes of funk-filled cronies doing their duty to your booty with what GC calls the hyperventilatin’ groove, the art of funkin’ on the one.
