Now this is The Dr.’s statement.

"The shape of things to come, came". My funk-entelect tells me we are standing on the verge of a whole neo-P-Funk type thang family. Its all 1 thang. This set is a testament to that. Here’s a splattering of what is to perhaps come with the launch of his own C Kunspyruhzy Records( he owned the quickly defunct Uncle Jam Records back around 1980). And judging from the lyrical overtones of "Neverending Love" ,they ain’t about to go nowhere either! He says of the label, "I can’t wait to grow this P-Funk Thang all over again". This could be the funkin’ tip of the proverbial iceberg.

This is the CD that very much represents what the US Funk Mob is TODAY, although I must say "Viagra" surely embodies the vibe of the mid-70s Funkadelic/Alice in my Fantasies daze. In fact, the tracks listed as Funkadelic sound pretty much like what I’d imagine a 2005 Funkadelic to sound like. Some killer guitar licks and acid-like stacked backing vocals. The Parliament tracks are a lot of fun and "Goodnight Sweetheart" goes all the way back to the original quintet’s harmonies ala a sound he’s been calling ‘techno-doowop’.

The Dr. does a ton of singing on alot of these cuts. His vox are funky, wiry, wicked, raspy, smooth and show just how funked-out he has always been on Sly! And he does a ton of singing here. Betwixt these various monikers comes a motley, if not eccentric collection of styles.

From gut-bucket funk and blues to some soulpsychedelicised new age techno-dowop. Not a hip-hop album but with a sprinkling of hip-hop throughout (and some damm- sho ATL-southernfried ghetto rap as well). Neo-Soul/Funk, Rock and Rap mashups, 50's Rockabilly and Classic Soul/Dowop. And from nearest I gather, The Dr. Simply running tape on the funniest chit-talking session I’ve heard, the 15 minute hilarious Old Skool Funkadelic loop , "I Can Dance"with Sue Dog.

The set kicks off with Kendra’s "Bounce to This". A scorching slab of bass heavy, synth-driven danclefloor pumpin’ from Kendra.. Trey Lewd’s slippery sly lyrical wit and musical genius continues to enthrall the slippery slope of your mind. He delivers here Tour-de Force style with the ballad "Our Secret" and slow churn funk number "Sue Sue Sue". Jerome Rodgers a star of the effort for his piano tinklings alone.

As is Belita, Trey & Kendra. Belita’s sultry vocals that just melt in your earhole on all of the trakcs she’s featured on.. The double CD covers just about every kind of musical spectrum you can imagine. There’s even times when I found myself thinking I was checking out the Pee-Unplugged (GC and Joi’s ballad "I’ll Be Sittin’ Here" is damn near a masterpiece)

Me thinks GC has got gobs of tracks on all these artists and then some. Lets face it, the man’s work ethic has always been astounding. He just cuts and cuts and cuts new music. Although this can be a truly shape-shifting, mind-altering collection at times , I do detect the spirit of Funkadelia therein.

And unless my earhole deceives me, a lot of the PFAS’s touring line-up show up in the mix (full credits weren’t included in the exclusive promo package we heard). I’m sure we’ll get a full run-down of the personnel upon its official release. And I can’t wait to see what Sue Dog looks like, "look at this view, ooo, girl’s got a future behind her."
