Having burst forth in the mostly devoid of funk 1980's to sauce up GC solo albums like "You Shouldn't-Nuf Bit Fish". An ever present Michigan guitar ace, Andre has come full circle. Toured most of the next decade and beyond as Clinton's go to axeman.
Smashing up both rhythm and lead with his alley cat, dirty garbage can "Funky Blues" tones. He lets that same energy fly on raw funk scratchers like "Right Here, Right Now" and the yearning, churning "Looking For It".
Would have been nice if some of these made it onto Clinton's official Funkadelic "Shake The Gate" offering. Believe me when I say this is some Funkadelic attitude right here. Always pushing the envelope and forging ahead with an unorthodox razor-cutting stage presence, Andre quickly became an audience delight.
Mad respect for any man who had the unabashed balls to appear onstage in full wedding gown, funky Nun habit. That mini-skirted, thigh-high, platform-wearing booted freak in habit form bobba. As Clip Payne would say, the "Sister Muthafunka".
Foxxe tells it like it is, he ain't got time to slow down headed back to Motown. "Get Your Foot Out The Mustard" baby. Got to cut it. Some of these barn burners build on a foot-stomping Funkadelicish "I Betcha" type drum loop and just explode with acid-drenched textures to stimulate the aural senses to no end.
I've always been a sucker for some good melodies over some good grooves. An industrial strength Detroit throw down with an authentic soul street frequency only brought forth by the genuine article. And the purveyor of this dank, sticky yet invigoratingly refreshing funk stew can be non other than the Mature Freak hisself.
